What is the wrath of God?

The terminology “the wrath of God” is ALWAYS defined in Scripture; it’s NEVER God being angry but MAN consistently rejecting God’s salvation-power and goodness by a conscious exercise of his own freewill. God’s character CANNOT force man against his will, so He lets  him be — this is the “wrath of God.” Man is eventually destroyed by his OWN sins and unbelief, not by God! God is ONLY EVER good (James 1:13, 17, 1 John 1:5, Luke 9:56). Anger is a fruit of the flesh (Col. 3:8-10, Eph. 4:31-32, Galatians 5:19-21) and hence CANNOT be found in God. EVERYWHERE you see the “wrath of God,” it is always man, sin & death doing something, NEVER God — the state of man in rebellion towards Deity is always emphasized also (see John 3:36, Romans 1:16-32, 2:5, 8, 5:12, 6:23, Eph. 5:3-7, Col. 3:5-7, 1 Thess. 1:10, 5:9-10, Hebrews 3&4). Let this guide your perspective of God as you study His Word — God is Light and in Him is NO DARKNESS AT ALL!
