“Eyes have not seen, nor ears heard the financial breakthroughs, cars etc God has in store for you!”
First, NOTHING in the text mentions financial breakthroughs. Observe that Paul is quoting from the Old Testament (Isai. 64:4). He had began his argument from verses 1-5 when he states that the preaching of the Gospel is void of human wisdom. In vs. 6-8, he explains that the rulers of this world (contextually, the Pharisees and the Roman emperors) did not know this wisdom. Hence, they crucified the Lord Jesus. It is from this that vs. 9 flows — “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (NKJV)
He is referring to the inability of those who claimed to be wise in this world to understand God’s plan of salvation. The Pharisees and Roman empire did not see, hear nor know God’s purposes in salvation which “He prepared for those He loves” (“correct syntax from the Greek.”). The text has NOTHING to do with money or material possessions.
